Three generations on one piece of ground: a man who went to war and came back to it; a man who has stayed through this one; and a woman who went away to be educated and has spent every year since working out what she owes it.
The founder’s great-grandfather returned to Sumy Oblast and joined a generation that planted shelterbelts across the steppe: oak and poplar to hold the soil, apple and pear along the inside. They planted for harvests they would not live to see at their best.
